    The Book:
“Come on Seabiscuit” by Ralph Moody, Illustrated by Robert Riger
This is a wonderful juvenile biography of the life of Seabiscuit.
It tells the story of the knobby kneed plain foal who was mistreated by his first trainer due to the misdeeds of his father, Hard Tack, a son of the famous Man O’ War.
He finally found the human family he needed overcome injuries and to rise to fame among the greats of Thoroughbred racing.
His uncle, War Admiral, was a son of Man O’ War, a year younger than Seabiscuit, beautiful and a Triple Crown Race winner when Seabiscuit beat him in a match race.
In the 1940 Santa Anita Handicap he won to the shouts of the crowd, “Come on Seabiscuit.”
This was his last race. He retired having set a new track record and topped the life time winning record of Sun Beau to become the top winning Thoroughbred of his time.
The book is used and has some the name of probably the first owner of the book.
It would be a wonderful read for anyone.
There are not a lot of illustrations, but they are great black and white drawings.
